Our Legacy in Swimwear & Water Polo Excellence

FAB Sportswear was founded in Greece by Andreas Garyfallos, the eldest of the Garyfallos family. His unmatched passion for water polo and swimming, along with his natural talent, inspired the launch of the first family owned sportswear store in Athens in 1978, originally named “Garyfallos Sport.”

Andreas was no ordinary athlete. Known as the Water Polo Patriarch of Greece, he won an impressive nine national swimming championships and 17 national water polo titles with his beloved team, Ethnikos Piraeus. As the long-standing captain of both Ethnikos and the Greek national water polo team, he represented Greece in two Olympic Games—Mexico 1968 as a player, and Moscow 1980 as head coach.

Continuing this legacy, his son Yiannis Garyfallos became a water polo champion, winning 14 Greek championships and 3 Greek Cups. Twice the league’s top scorer and MVP, Yiannis also captained the Greek National team for four years and played in the 1980 Olympic Games.

Yiannis’ wife, Natasa, was a swimming prodigy. As a champion swimmer, she competed for Olympiakos Piraeus and the Greek national swimming team for 11 years. She set numerous national and Balkan records in butterfly, backstroke, and medley, even breaking the women’s national backstroke record at age 12.

Their son, Andrew (the third generation), embraced the family tradition. A talented water polo player, he played for Ethnikos and the Greek junior national team, earning the family’s first international medal with a silver at the 1999 European Championship. Today, Andrew leads FAB Sportswear, combining his athletic experience with a passion for designing premium swimsuits and performance swimwear.

Last but not least, Julia Garyfallou—the youngest—also chose the pool. A dedicated water polo athlete, she competed for Glyfada and Ethnikos and represented Greece internationally for over six years. As a National Team athlete she earned a gold medal in the 2006 European Championship and a silver medal in the 2007 World Championship. Julia also played for Long Beach State University in California while earning her degree in Marketing and Management.

FAB Sportswear is more than a swimwear brand. It’s a family legacy built on excellence, dedication, and a love for swimming, water polo, and elite athletic swimwear.
